Q: How much does it cost?
A: Absolutely nothing! Stacy will provide each veteran a free high resolution file of their portrait, which they may use for private purposes. They may have them printed wherever, and however, they choose.

Q: What are the pictures used for?
A: The primary use is for the veteran – a gift of thanks for their service, free of charge. No portrait is used for any other purpose without the veteran’s consent. There have been printed exhibitions across the US, and Veteran’s Day tributes showcasing some of the VPP portraits – highlighting the veteran’s service.

Q: Do I have to be a veterans of foreign war to take part?
A: You do not have to be a veteran of foreign war (VFW) to participate. So long as you served, and are a DD Form 214 holder, you qualify.

Q: What do I wear?
A: You can wear whatever you like – uniform or civilian clothes. Bringing a military memento or old photo always helps, and is encouraged, but it isn’t necessary.

Q: Can I be photographed with my spouse?
A: The VPP is reserved for veterans only. If your spouse is a veteran, they’re welcome to pose with you. If they are not, it’s “time permitting” only, with no guarantees.

  4. My husband served in Viet Nam as a dustoff crew chief. I would love to see him photographed and get some of the recognition he deserves. Can you add him to a list of potential subjects when you come to the D.C./Baltimore area?

    I am currently signed up for your class at Photocon in Oklahoma City at the end of March.
    My dad is a Vietnam veteran, and I am wondering what the chances are that you might take his photograph while you are in town??

  8. My Dad is a WWII Army veteran. We just celebrated his 96th birthday. A portrait of him would be a great gift. He is still active, good health, a full head of hair and is very handsome!
    Will you be in Pennsylvania?

  11. This is so awesome! I wish that I would have thought of it, lol!
    I’m a photographer too and have been taking pics for 40yrs +. But I am a buildings, architecture, and abstraction stylist and you have ZERO competition from me in portraiture. My childhood heroine was Margaret Bourke-White, and she was a huge influence on my eye for pulling detail out of structural “ruins”.
    Anyway.
    I hate to ask but this is so cool that I want to ask if you’re still doing this and if I could arrange a portrait? I don’t know how you do this, esp. if you live far away from Texas, bc that’s where I am.

  12. Do you accept a picture of a deceased Veteran as in like a Thanks to You in honor of your service? He served in Vietnam at 17-22 and died at 30 from Agent Orange. My twin brothers were also severely birth defected and one was microcephalic.
